Independent Assessment of Science and Technology for the Department of Energy's Defense Environmental Cleanup Program

The Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Environmental Management (EM) has asked the National Academies to conduct an independent assessment of technology development efforts within DOE-EM.

The Nuclear and Radiation Studies Board is seeking nominations for experts to serve on the committee that will carry out this study. The board is seeking committee members with the following technical and policy expertise:

  • Chemistry (nuclear, radio)
  • Engineering (chemical, civil, environmental, nuclear)
  • Geoscience (geology, geochemistry, hydrology)
  • Materials science
  • Risk analysis
  • Science and technology program design, management, and assessment
  • Technology development
  • Waste processing and management
  • Robotics
