FDA and NRC Pave Way for Domestic Supply of 99mTc
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) announced in a recent news release that steps have been taken to ensure a stable and secure supply of 99mTc, the most widely used radioisotope in medical imaging. The FDA approved the RadioGenix System, a unique system for producing 99mTc, and the NRC is issuing guidance and will license the RadioGenix System to enable the 99mTc it produces to be used for its medical purpose. More information is available in the FDA news release.
