NRPB Issues Advice on Exposure to Radiation During Pregnancy

The National Radiological protection Board (NRPB) of the United Kingdom recently issued a document titled "Diagnostic Medical Exposures: Advice on Exposure to Ionising Radiation during Pregnancy" by C. Sharp (NRPB), J. A. Shrimpton (College of Radiographers), and R. F. Bury (Royal College of Radiologists). The document states that "the main onjective of NRPB advice concerning in utero exposures to ionising radiation is to prevent unnecessary exposure of the fetus when medical diagnostic procedures involving ionising radiation are indicated during pregnancy." In addition, advice is meant to help avoid unnecessary concern or action if an exposure does occur. This document is on the NRPB's website at http://www.nrpb.org.uk/Pub-preg.htm
