In the December issue of Health Physics, the Journal editorial staff wraps up the year by sincerely thanking our associate editors and peer reviewers for the time they have volunteered over the past year.

Their efforts have improved the approximately 100 papers we have published in 2021, and they have provided hundreds of constructive comments to our authors. In addition to our gratitude, certified health physicists can earn two continuing education credits per paper reviewed, which should help come recertification time. We also sincerely thank all the authors who submitted papers to the Journal in 2021. We greatly appreciate your willingness to share your work with your colleagues!

I would also like to encourage younger readers of Health Physics to volunteer to be peer reviewers. The most common concern I hear is, "I'm not sure I'm qualified to be a peer reviewer." If you have an undergraduate degree in a technical field and you are engaged in the practice of radiation safety, you are exactly who we are looking for in a peer reviewer. When you register, you will be able to select your specific areas of expertise, so you only review papers from your particular corner of health physics. This is a great way to keep up with the field and improve your own writing and critical thinking skills, in addition to providing a valuable service to your profession.
