Columbia Chapter Offers Online Health Physics Refresher Course

Prepare yourself to take Part I, Part II, or both parts of the certified health physicist (CHP) examinations or refresh your knowledge of health physics principles and practices through this 13-week intensive course. The course reviews fundamental concepts with an emphasis on problem-solving skills and preparation for the CHP exam. The course will include typical Part I and II problems integrated with the lesson material. Solutions and methods will be presented to provide insight into an appropriate examination response.

Who Should Attend

Individuals who have met the requirements for taking either part of the CHP exam and for certified health physicists maintaining their continuing education requirements. The course is approved for 40 hours American Academy of Health Physics continuing education credits.

Dates: 8 February–5 May 2022

Herbert M. Parker Symposium

The Columbia Chapter of the Health Physics Society (CCHPS), in conjunction with the Herbert M. Parker Foundation and American Nuclear Society Eastern Washington Section is planning to hold the first Herbert M. Parker Symposium in Richland, Washington, 7–9 April 2022 (contingent on local/state restrictions pertaining to COVID-19).

"Radiation Protection—The Next Generation" is a symposium designed to allow students and young professionals to hear from and interact with seasoned radiation protection professionals and prospective employers. We are inviting participants from a broad range of radiation protection disciplines including health physics, medical physics, nuclear engineering, and other related fields.

Student Scholarships

We are proud to announce multiple scholarship opportunities for students enrolled in or seeking enrollment to a health physics, nuclear science and engineering, or related educational program at an accredited institution.

This year, eight $2,000 scholarships are exclusively available to students presenting at the Herbert M. Parker symposium. To apply for any of these scholarships, register to present at the symposium, fill out the application form, and forward all necessary documents to the Scholarship Committee before the scholarship application deadline.
