The 2022 IRPA North American Regional Congress—"Meeting the Challenges in the Practice of Radiation Protection"—was held 21–23 February, in St. Louis, Missouri. The plenary session on 20 February included talks and a panel discussion addressing the questions of:
- What end goals do we all agree would permit society to most beneficially harness the use of radiation technologies?
- What new and exciting scientific discoveries and lessons learned have we encountered in the last decade that may revolutionize a paradigm shift in modernizing our interpretation of the practice and philosophy of radiation protection?
- How will new scientific discoveries and communication strategies mold cultural and philosophical discussions about radiation protection?
- Where do we still have hope? To quote Marie Curie, "I never see what has been done; I only see what remains to be done."
