Jess Joyce, Mentoring Task Force Chair
The Health Physics Society (HPS) Mentoring Task Force is excited to announce the creation of a new HPS Mentorship Committee! This new committee will manage an HPS mentoring program to foster growth in the profession by providing opportunities for HPS members to share experiences and resources with one another. We are seeking nominations for individuals to serve on the committee who are passionate about health physics mentorship in all its possible forms!
Building on the long-standing mentoring program and networking events offered by the Student Support and Membership Committees, the Mentorship Committee will be the new home for these programs and will help our Society:
- Cultivate, develop interest in, and increase the knowledge base in specific areas of health physics.
- Provide members with hands-on opportunities in their primary area of interest.
- Develop professional relationships among members.
- Expose members to the benefits of professional networking.
The responsibilities of the Mentorship Committee include:
- Providing opportunities for HPS members to share experience and resources with one another.
- Matching mentors and mentees, including initial review of provided information.
- Planning, organizing, scheduling, and overseeing mentorship events as necessary/appropriate.
- Coordinating interaction of other HPS sections, committees, and/or chapters with respect to HPS mentoring initiatives.
Please send nominations to Mentoring Task Force Chair Jess Joyce, by 30 June. Mentorship Committee members will begin after the HPS annual meeting in July.
