Laser technology has spread over all aspects of modern society. A team of grad students is no longer required to keep a laser system up and running. This has put potentially hazardous laser systems in the hands of users who may not appreciate the risk from the laser product. Laser Safety in Specialized Applications, edited by Ken Barat, covers 11 areas where such laser systems are used: forensics, consumer products, underwater setting, space, trade shows, the Laser Interferometer Gravitational Wave Observatory (LIGO) Project, art conservations, astronomy guide star, public educational institutions, biotech labs, and fiber optic use in labs. A chapter on the fundamentals of laser safety and accident investigation is also included. Published in 2021 by AIP Publishing, 175 pages, available on the AIP Publishing website.
