I am writing this brief note in early January, and only a couple weeks removed from winter solstice. The days are short and the nights are long this time of year, and here in Ohio, even the days tend to be overcast and gray. But the good news is that every day from here into spring will be getting a couple minutes longer. Rather than letting the dark days of winter drag me down, I am trying to focus on the brighter days ahead.
I want to similarly encourage our readers as we come out of a rough couple of years. We made it, and hopefully brighter days professionally are ahead for all of us! Now is the time to look forward and renew our commitment to our important work helping humanity use radiation safely. I hope you will take this opportunity to finish those half-written papers you have lurking on your hard drives or to tweak the format of that professional report you wrote and submit it as a manuscript to Health Physics. You have already done the hard part—now just take the extra step and let your colleagues know about your work!
As we lean into 2023, I wish you all professional success, peace, and a prosperous New Year.
