Baltimore Washington Chapter Local Arrangements Committee

The 68th Health Physics Society (HPS) Annual Meeting will be held 23–27 July 2023 at the Gaylord National Resort in National Harbor, Maryland.

Meeting shirts and caps are available to preorder. Go to the shop page on the Baltimore-Washington Chapter website store to place your order so that it is ready for pickup at the meeting.

The Local Arrangements Committee (LAC) website is now live but limited in use. As we begin to finalize the LAC activities, we will post on our website. This is where we are currently:

1. Private Tour of NS Savannah. Docked in Baltimore Harbor, the NS Savannah is currently undergoing decommissioning. The tour date(s) are still being finalized, but we anticipate departing the Gaylord hotel at 0800 and returning no later than 1600. Cost for transportation and a light lunch will be on the order of $60 per person.
2. Night out at a piano bar or pub crawl. This will be held in the National Harbor area Tuesday evening, 25 July 2023. Prices and availability to be determined.
3. Washington Nationals Major League Baseball game against the Colorado Rockies. We'll go to the game on Wednesday evening, 26 July 2023. Transportation and a good seat to the game will cost about $65 per person.
4. We have begun the approval process of having assets from the National Nuclear Security Administration's Nuclear Emergency Support Team (NEST) make a special appearance during the meeting—stay tuned.

We will be happy to entertain some suggestions on specific tours of the national mall, the Smithsonian museums, National Archives, Department of Energy, SPY museum, Museum of the Bible, US Holocaust Memorial Museum, US Capitol, or Washington Monument, to name a few.
