Claire Cousins Award for Young Scientists and Professionals
We are pleased to announce that two outstanding members of the Early-Career and Professionals (ECP) Section of the Health Physics Society have been nominated (in 2022 and 2023) among the four finalists for the Claire Cousins Award for Young Scientists and Professionals by the International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP).
Dr. Sara Dumit was nominated in 2022 for her work on "Tools for Effective Communication With Radiation Workers: Improving How to Listen, Relate, Empathize, and Communicate Internal Doses" at the ICRP 2021+1 6th International Symposium on the System of Radiological Protection in Vancouver, Canada.
Dr. Ämilie Degenhardt was nominated this year for her work on "A Biokinetic Model to Assess Radon Uptake by the Fetus in Pregnant Women" at the ICRP 2023 7th International Symposium on the System of Radiological Protection in Tokyo, Japan.

YGN Workshop Overview of the HPS Early-Career Professionals Section
ECP Section Secretary Sara Dumit, PhD, presented "Overview of the Early-Career Professionals (ECP) Section of the Health Physics Society (HPS)" in Tokyo, Japan, on 8 November 2023. Congratulations to Sara on being invited by the Japan Health Physics Society to showcase the work of our ECP Section at the International Young Generation Network (YGN) Workshop on Challenges of Radiation Protection 2023. The workshop was supported by the International Commission on Radiological Protection and the Japanese Radiation Research Society. Young scientists from around the world discussed the challenges faced by Early-Career Professionals in Radiation Protection.
