Health Physics Society (HPS) President George Anastas kicked off the Society's Radiation Safety Without Borders (RSWB) initiative at the Plenary Session of the HPS Midyear Meeting in Orlando on February 18. Anastas' presentation can be viewed on this site by anyone who has MS PowerPoint.
The initiative has also been covered in recent issues of the HPS Newsletter and is the subject of the March Newsletter editorial by Associate Editor Eric Abelquist. His editorial encourages HPS chapters to get involved.
RSWB will help colleagues in other countries improve their radiation safety programs. The initial proposal calls for assistance to be given to Costa Rica, Ecuador, Jamaica, and Panama by members of the South Texas, Northeastern New York, Florida, and Northern California chapters. Other countries and other chapters will join the effort as the initiative is implemented.
