Health Physics Society President Ray Guilmette has forwarded written testimony to Senator Pete Domenici to be included in the record of a hearing by the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee on Low Level Waste Oversight.
The hearing, held on September 30, 2004, is for the purpose of receiving testimony regarding issues related to low level radioactive waste. Information on the hearing, including testimony by four witnesses on the hearing panel, can be found at the Senate Committee website.
The Society testimony was drafted by its Legislation and Regulation Committee, chaired by J. Scott Kirk, based on Society position statements and previous correspondence on the issue of managing low level waste and was reviewed and approved for distribution by the Science and Public Issues Committee, chaired by Past President Kenneth Kase.
