I am looking for guidance on the requirements for labeling of lead-lined walls. Is it required by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission or any other body that each lead-lined wall in a radiology clinic be labeled with its lead equivalent? If so what what publication might I find it in?

Use of x-ray procedures in the United States is regulated by each individual state. Certain states may have a rule that requires the amount of shielding in each x-ray room wall be indicated in or near the room. As a consultant serving clients in four different states, I have only seen one facility that had postings indicating the amount of lead in each wall. Although it seems to be a good idea, it does not appear to be common practice. Review the regulations for the state you are interested in to see if there are any requirements.
